He graduated from the Geology Faculty of the Ivan Franko State University in Lviv (1999) and continued her study as a post-graduate majoring in “Lithology” (04.00.21). Since 2002 O. Kostiuk has worked at the Scientific Research Department as Junior Research Fellow, Research Fellow, аnd responsible executor of research projects. In 2004 has worked at petrography department as assistant teacher. In 2013 he presented her dissertation “Lithology of Paleocene deposits in the Skyba zone of the Ukrainian Carpathians” (D 26.162.04). In 2014 – Dean’s deputies for Scientific Work (Science Manager). Since 2019 O. Kostiuk has worked at the Petrography, and Geochemistry Department and holds the post – Assistant professor (docent)

Since 2022 is the scientific supervisor of the research topic, which is performed within the working hours of teachers, as well as research of doctoral students, graduate students of the Faculty of Geology: “Lithological and petrological studies of the genesis of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic complexes of rocks into the western and central parts of Ukraine and problems of their genesis” (0122U002338)
