Yuri Krupskyi was born in June 1941. In 1957 he graduated from Vovchansk Secondary School (Turkivskyi district, Lviv region). In 1962 he graduated from the Petroleum Faculty of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Geology and Exploration of Oil and Gas Fields. In 1962–1975 he worked as an operator, geological engineer, senior geologist of the Pasichnianska Drilling Office and the Nadvirna Drilling Department of the Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR (Nadvirna, Ivano-Frankivsk region).

In 1975 he defended candidate dissertation “Deep geological structure and prospects of oil and gas potential of the Precarpathian Depression (interfluve Limnytsia–Liucha)”.

1975–1981 – senior researcher at the Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Oil and Gas;

1981–1985 – Chief Geologist of the Kalush Oil and Gas Exploration Expedition of the “Zakhidukrgeologiia” of the Ministry of Geology of Ukraine (Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region);

1986–2005 – Chief Geologist for oil and gas of the Zakhidukrgeologiia Public Association (Lviv).

In 2000 he defended his doctoral dissertation “Geodynamic conditions of formation and oil and gas potential of the Carpathian and Volyno-Podilskyi regions of Ukraine”.

Since 2005 – Chief Researcher of the Research Institute of Oil and Gas Industry of SE “Naukanaftogaz” of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”.

2001–2014 – part-time professor at the Faculty of Geology of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.  Since September 2014 – professor at the Department of Ecological and Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology.

Member of the specialized scientific councils for the defence of candidate and doctoral dissertations of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas and the Faculty of Geology of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Member of the editorial board of a number of professional journals.

Expert of the State Commission of Ukraine on Mineral Reserves.

Full member of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy.

Honorary subsoil scout.

Branch badge of the Ministry of Geology of the USSR “Excellence in Subsoil Exploration” (1991).
